Etiqa Insurance Singapore notes the article in The Business Times “Capital Guaranteed Label for investment-linked policies misleading: MAS, Life Insurance Association” dated 1 June 2026 regarding the use of the term “capital guaranteed” in relation to investment-linked policies (ILPs). We would like to clarify our position to ensure that our practices are accurately represented.
Etiqa does not position or market our investment-linked policies as capital guaranteed products, nor approve of or endorse any comparisons between ILPs and CPF LIFE. CPF LIFE is a national annuity scheme that provides lifelong payouts and is fundamentally different in nature, objective and risk profile from market-linked insurance products. ILPs are inherently market-linked instruments designed to provide both insurance protection and investment exposure, and their values may fluctuate depending on underlying fund performance.
Any comparison between the two may lead to misunderstanding and does not reflect the intended purpose of either offering. All our official sales and marketing materials do not contain such comparisons. We have also reminded our financial representatives not to use unauthorised sales and marketing materials and to ensure that all product explanations accurately reflect the nature, risks and features of the plans being recommended.
We are fully aligned with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Life Insurance Association (LIA) on the importance of clear, accurate and responsible communication to customers. We support ongoing industry efforts to strengthen transparency and ensure that customers have a proper understanding of product features, risks and limitations before making any financial decisions.
Etiqa will continue to work closely with regulators and industry partners to support initiatives that enhance consumer understanding and trust in financial products. We remain committed to upholding high standards of professionalism and customer-centric advisory practices such as communicating product features transparently, ensuring recommendations are suited to customers’ financial needs and risk appetites.
