Board of Directors
Dato’ Johan was appointed as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. on 3 April 2019. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Etiqa Singapore.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Miami, United States and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the Indiana University, United States.
Dato’ Johan has extensive experience in property development and banking. He started his career in the real estate division of Citibank. Thereafter, he held various senior positions in several subsidiaries of public listed companies after which he ventured into his own successful marketing and advertising consultancy and property development business. He then headed Danaharta’s Property Division as Senior General Manager before moving on to head TTDI Development Sdn Bhd up to January 2009. He was a board member of Malayan Banking Berhad from 2009 to 2018.
Within the Maybank Group, Dato’ Johan also sits on the board of Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad, Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad, and Etiqa International Holdings Sdn Bhd. He is also currently the Chairman of Etiqa Life Insurance (Cambodia) Plc.
Besides the Maybank Group, Dato’ Johan is also currently the Chairman of the Mitraland Group of Companies, whose principal activity is that of property development. He also sits on the board of Permodalan Nasional Berhad and is the Chairman of Pelaburan Hartanah Nasional Berhad.
Filip Coremans holds a Master of Business Administration Degree in International Business Finance, a Master’s degree in Actuarial Sciences and a Bachelor Degree in Applied Economics, all from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
He has been active in the Insurance industry for 30 years, his entire professional career. He joined ING Insurance Belgium in 1990 where he became Deputy Director overseeing the Save- and Investment product lines both in Insurance and banking. In 1998, he was appointed as Corporate Controller in KBC Insurance Belgium and joined Ageas by the end of 2002.
At Ageas, Filip Coremans held various senior management positions in the Asian entities. He has been Executive Director and CFO of our operations in Malaysia until 2007, was the CFO of IDBI Federal Life insurance company in India until 2009 and was then appointed Regional CFO/CRO of Ageas Asia overseeing the finance, investment, risk, and actuarial domains for Asia region. He served as non-Executive director on the Boards of our operations in China, India, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
With effect from 1st July 2014 Filip joined our Group Executive Committee as Chief Risk Officer and executive director of ageas SA NV, with responsibility for Compliance, Legal, Risk, Human Resources, IT and Office Support. As of June 2019, he took up the role of Chief Development Officer with responsibility for Human Resources, Business Development and Technology development. As of November 2020, he was appointed Managing Director of Asia, with the additional group responsibility overseeing the CDSO function (Business Development, Technology Development and ESG.)
Furthermore, he serves as director on the board of Ageas Insurance International NV (Belgium). As non-executive director, he serves on the boards of Ageas Federal Life Insurance Co Ltd (India), Royal Sundaram General Insurance Co Ltd (India), Taiping Life Insurance Company Limited (China), Muang Thai Life Assurances PCL (Thailand), Muang Thai Holdings Co Ltd (Thailand) and Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. (Singapore).
Mr Francis was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. on 27 December 2022. He is also a member of the Audit Committee of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd.
He has a Master of Business Administration from Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada and recently completed his Master of Technology in Intelligent Systems, Institute of Systems Science from National University of Singapore.
Mr Francis has more than 20 years of IT experience and has consulted for and provided strategic IT leadership to several life and general insurance companies. His began his career in biomedical research at the Ontario Cancer Institute, Princess Marget Hospital in Canada in 1995 to 1997. Thereafter he held IT related positions in several companies in Canada before moving back to Asia. He joined Great Eastern Life Assurance Co Ltd in 2005 to 2009, AXA Life Insurance Singapore Pte Ltd from 2009 to 2010 as the Head of IT and Project Management Office. He then joined Kelly Services (Singapore) Pte Ltd as Senior Director and Regional Head of IT (Asia Pacific) in 2011 to 2013, after which he was the Vice President and Regional Chief Information Officer, Asia Pacific Zone of Chubb Pacific Underwriting Management Services Pte Ltd. He was then in several positions involving providing information technology consultancy and advisory before he ventured into the mental healthcare section in 2018.
Mr Francis is currently a Director of Weezard Pte Ltd and the Managing Director of Neubio Medial Pte Ltd.
Hj Sallim was appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. on 3 December 2014. He is the Chairman of the Audit Committee and is a member of the Risk Management Committee of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd.
He is a fellow member of the Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountant and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
Hj Sallim has experience in audit and human resources related matters. He started his career as an auditor in PricewaterhouseCoopers (renamed after merger with Coopers & Lybrand) in 1977 and subsequently became a Director of Human Resources. After 23 years with PwC, he joined the Singapore Training & Development Association as a Director of Corporate Membership Services to provide strategy for business development & marketing and conduct training, from 2000 to 2004. Thereafter, Hj Sallim was with Consistel Pte Ltd as the Director of Human Resource until 2017.
Hj Sallim is currently a Non-Executive Director of Sime Darby Oils International Limited. He also currently serves in various voluntary Boards and Committees spread over 7 ministries in Singapore such as Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Ministry of Social and Family Development, Ministry of Health, Infocomm Media Development Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence and the Public Service Commission. Some notable appointments are Board Members of Yayasan Mendaki, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore, Warees Investments Pte Ltd and Chairman of Warees Halal Limited and Industrial and Services Cooperative Society (as part of the Yellow Ribbon SG support network) He is also a member of the Board of Visiting Justices for Singapore Prisons and the Singapore Armed Forces. Hj Sallim also served as a Council member of Islamic Council of Singapore, Audit Committee Chairman of Mendaki Group of Companies and Islamic Council of Singapore and various sub committees until 2019. He chaired the Suara Musyawarah Committee, Malay Muslim SG50 Committee appointed by the Minister of Malay Muslim Affairs, Singapore. He was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2011 and appointed as Justice of the Peace since 2013.
En. Kamal was appointed as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. on 26 November 2013.
He holds a B. Sc (Hons) Actuarial Science from the University of Kent, England.
En Kamal has more than 30 years of financial services industry experience with large Malaysian corporations and a multinational company. He started his career in 1990 with six years of regulatory and risk management experience with Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia. Thereafter he joined several corporations including an investment bank and a multinational insurance company between 1996 and 2012. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa Insurance Berhad from 2012 to 2014, and has been the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Ageas Holdings Bhd, the holding company of Etiqa Insurance Pte Ltd since 2013.
Within the Maybank Group, En Kamal also sits on the board of Etiqa General Insurance (Cambodia). He is also currently the Chairman of Etiqa Digital Solutions Sdn Bhd and the President Commissioner of PT Asuransi Etiqa Internasional Indonesia.
Ms Loo was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. on 16 October 2023. She is also a member of the Audit Committee of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd.
Ms Loo has about 30 years of working experience in the financial sector, holding various leadership positions with experience in actuarial, product development, internal audit, risk management, compliance and human resource.
Ms Loo was previously Head of Internal Audit of AIA Singapore Pte Ltd, and subsequently Chief Risk Officer of AIA Singapore Pte, Ltd, as well as Compliance Controller of Aviva Limited. Ms Loo was also previously with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for about 12 years in various capacities, her last appointment being Director, Insurance Department. During her stint with MAS, she had participated at various committees and workgroups of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors. She holds a Master of Science in Financial Management from University of London and Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from London School of Economics and Political Science.
Mr Colin Pakshong was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. on 1 September 2015. He is the Chairman of the Risk Management Committee and he also serves as a member of the Investment Committee and Audit Committee of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd.
He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Actuaries, United Kingdom and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Mr Colin Pakshong is an actuary by profession, and worked in life insurance and consulting after graduating. In 1993 he joined General & Cologne Re’s Singapore office, subsequently becoming the Managing Director. He was the Director, Life & Health, at GE Frankona Reassurance Singapore from 1999 to 2004, after which he became the Chief Executive Officer of Tokio Marine Retakaful. From 2007 to 2010 he was the Chief Executive Officer of TM Asia Life. Mr Pakshong has served on the Council of the Singapore Actuarial Society and is currently a member of the MAS Appeal Advisory Panel. In 2009, he received the award of Distinguished Financial Industry Certified Professional from the Institute of Banking and Finance of Singapore.
Within the Maybank Group, Mr Colin Pakshong also sits on the boards of Etiqa Life Insurance Berhad, Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad and Etiqa Life Insurance (Cambodia) Plc.

Senior Management
Raymond brings to Etiqa a demonstrated track record of strategic leadership with more than 27 years’ experience in the financial services and insurance industry, having held a broad range of senior management roles during his career, with experience in actuarial, product development, risk management, and strategic finance. A qualified actuary, he started his career with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics (1st Class Honours) from the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.
Raymond has participated in several workgroups at the industry level, including being a member of the Risk Management Working Group of the Institute of Banking and Finance, supporting the MAS-LIA Insurance Culture and Conduct Committee, and being on the Green Finance Working Group of the MAS Financial Centre Advisory Panel.
Chen Thong Wah leads the Product and ILP Funds Solutions, Product Delivery and Life Pricing at Etiqa Singapore. As Chief Product Officer, Thong Wah brings with him more than 15 years of experience in product development, implementation, pricing and valuation. He spent the early phase of his career as an actuary in Life pricing and valuations and shifted to Product Development since 2017. He currently holds a Bachelor of Business (Actuarial Studies) degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and is a Fellow at the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries, United Kingdom.
With more than 20 years in the financial services and insurance industry, Claudia’s professional experience spans across finance, strategic planning, risk management, M&A, investor relations and auditing. Prior to joining the private sector, Claudia spent 5 years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, focusing on the supervision of financial institutions. Claudia is an accountant by training and holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (1st Class Honours) from the Nanyang Technological University.
Collin is responsible for the overall development and implementation of human capital strategies across the organisation to support business growth. He is one of the pioneers of Etiqa Singapore and prior to that, he served as the Head of Talent Acquisition for Etiqa Insurance & Takaful, Malaysia. Collin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the Coventry University of UK.
With more than 20 years of experience under his belt, particularly in the areas of information technology and insurance, Dennis leads the information technology and business transformation initiatives of Etiqa Singapore. His responsibilities also include spearheading and growing the online business to mould Etiqa into the leading online insurer. Prior to his appointment, Dennis has held several management roles with key insurers within the region. He earned his MBA from East China Normal University and holds a Bachelor degree of Architectural Engineering from Chongqing University.
Jio Young is responsible for the product pricing of the general insurance business of Etiqa Group, including Etiqa Singapore. He has close to 20 years of experience in reserving, pricing, modelling and portfolio management in both general and life insurance. Jio Young is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. He also holds a Bachelor degree of Business from the Nanyang Technological University.
Jess is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of Partnerships Distribution at Etiqa Singapore, leveraging over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. In her capacity, Jess nurtures Etiqa’s robust partner relationships within the Bancassurance, Independent Financial Advisory, and Advisory channels. The Distribution Alliance team is also under her care and she plays a pivotal role in talent development. Jess holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Roehampton, London.
Shirley oversees the organisation’s branding, corporate communications, marketing and product management. She is responsible to drive the development and execution of the marketing and product strategy for Etiqa to reach its business objectives. She brings a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge in life and health insurance, holding positions in product development, marketing, customer experience and operations. Shirley holds a Master of Science in Applied Gerontology from the Nanyang Technological University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Statistics from the National University of Singapore.
Wei Lan leads the management of general and life insurance operations, claims management and customer care. He also oversees business transformation and drives excellence in customer experience. With more than 20 years of experience in the life and general insurance industry, he has accrued professional experiences in the management of life insurance operations, customer experience and innovation, as well as the marketing and distribution of general insurance business. Wei Lan is The Fellow, Life Management Institute (USA). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology (Honours) from the University of Leeds, UK and a Master of Business Administration from the Singapore Management University.
Wai Keong looks after the agency, broking and bancassurance GI channel growth for the General Insurance business of Etiqa Singapore. With more than 20 years of industry experience, he has been with Etiqa Singapore since 2010. Prior to joining Etiqa, Wai Keong was in GIA handling the general insurance industry’s technical issues and a broker firm overseeing its in-house insurance needs. He is also a Senior Associate and Certified Insurance Professional with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. Wai Keong holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Cumbria (UK).
Chee Keong has over 20 years of experience in the life insurance industry and has worked in various local and regional roles in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. During his career, he has worked in different functions covering actuarial, finance, strategic planning and business development.
He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK). He holds a First Class Honours in Civil Engineering from University College London (UK), Master with Distinction in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University (UK), Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Manchester Business School (UK) and completed Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams.
