Staying committed to our brand promise to humanise insurance and place people over policies, Etiqa Insurance Singapore has introduced Financial Assistance Benefit (“Benefit”) to those insured with our life insurance policies in light of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Hospitalisation Benefit
If the Insured Person is hospitalised due to the contraction of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will provide a hospitalisation benefit of S$100 per day for stable condition, up to S$1,000.

Intensive Care Unit (“ICU”) Benefit
If the Insured Person is hospitalised and warded in the ICU due to the contraction of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will provide an ICU benefit of S$200 per day up to S$1,000.

Death Benefit
In the unfortunate event of the Insured Person passing away due to the contraction of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will provide a lump sum death benefit of S$50,000.

Note

  • All existing and new Insured Person(s) of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. (“Etiqa Singapore”) life protection and insurance savings plans are eligible for the Financial Assistance Benefit for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • For policies issued/ reinstated on or after 13 February 2020, the Financial Assistance Benefit for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) will not be payable if:
    • the Insured Person’s first diagnosis by a Medical Practitioner occurs within 14 days from the policy issue/ reinstatement date; or
    • the Insured Person shows symptoms of the virus strain and is suspected to have contracted the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) before 13 February 2020.
  • The maximum benefit payable under the Financial Assistance Benefit for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is S$52,000 per Insured Person, regardless of the number of Etiqa Singapore life insurance policies with the same Insured Person.
  • Etiqa Singapore reserves the discretion to make amendments to the benefits and its validity at any time.

Definitions:

Medical Practitioner means a registered and legally qualified physician, doctor or surgeon by a medical degree in western medicine and authorised by the medical licensing authority of that country to provide medical or surgical services within the scope of their licence and training.

 

Insured Person refers to the life insured under an inforce individual life insurance policy underwritten by Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. (“Etiqa Singapore”)

his Benefit is provided to all existing and new Insured Person(s) of life protection and insurance savings plans underwritten by Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd.

However, for policies which issued/ reinstated on or after 13 February 2020, the Benefit will not be payable if:

No, the benefits are payable only if your life protection or insurance savings plan is still inforce with us.

This Benefit is automatically extended to all eligible Insured Person(s) as stated in Question 2.

Regardless of the number of policies you have with Etiqa Singapore, you are only entitled to a maximum benefit payout of S$100 per day for hospitalisation benefit, S$200 per day for ICU benefit and S$50,000 for death benefit. The total payable amount under this Benefit is S$52,000 per Insured Person.

In the case of being admitted into the ICU, you will only be entitled to the ICU benefit payout, which is S$200 per day. The hospitalisation benefit is only payable for Insured Person in stable condition who are not admitted in ICU.

This Benefit is offered as a complimentary coverage to the life insured of Etiqa Singapore life insurance policies.

Yes, private and public hospitals in and outside Singapore are eligible as long as they are able to provide proof of hospitalisation due to contraction of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Submissions for claims must be accompanied by proof of diagnosis or medical certification issued by hospitals specifying the diagnosis of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). We reserve the right to ask for other supporting documents, if necessary, for claims assessment.

The claims for this Benefit will be paid to the affected life insured. In the event of death due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the death benefit will be paid to the proper claimants or to the Estate.
